The sorting office should sort it
Thursday, 1st July 2021
• WE live on a large estate in Swiss Cottage and since last week residents have received no post.
The previous week our post was dumped in the main entrance of our block by Post Office agency staff.
When visiting Hampstead sorting office on Wednesday June 23 to ask what the problem was, they said our regular postman was on holiday and would return on Friday 25th. But it turns out he’s actually off for another week.
Our usual postman normally provides a very good service but since he has been gone the service has gone downhill.
On Monday 28th, still no letters being delivered, one of us went up again to ask if we could collect the post. But the man at the front office said they didn’t have the people to sort it out for us, owing to shortages and staff off sick.
The contact number on the sorting office window for complaints only rings when dialled. We were also informed by one of the neighbours that our post was left on the post trolley outside our main door, unattended.
This is a worrying situation. Goodness knows what post we and my neighbours are missing, and whether the problem goes further afield. We are still waiting for post that should have been delivered over a week ago.
There has been no apology, let alone an explanation, for this state of affairs. Just someone shrugging their shoulders at us.
